Bois Blanc Lighthouse

The lighthouse on the North side of Bois Blanc.  This is from an long past trip that Steve and I took to Bois Blanc.  For anyone who doesn’t know, Bois Blanc is a moderately sized island just east of Mackinac in Lake Huron.  There are two car ferries that go there.  Steve and I went camping there one weekend back in 2003.  We were initially going to do it as a backpacking trip, but the ferry operator suggested taking his truck over since it would cost about the same as two people and our bikes.

The recommendation worked well as the island is larger than we gave it credit for and biking would have been difficult and not much fun really.  One nice part about Bois Blanc – there are camp sites along the North, mostly uninhabited side of the island, but you are (or at least were) free to camp anywhere so long as you’re far enough off the main road.
