Sunset Paddleboarder

Another part to yesterday’s story.  It was cold – 25F with a breeze.  This is to be expected given that it’s Michigan at the end of January.  I didn’t have a hat, or more accurately, wasn’t aware that I had a hat available, so I was keenly aware of how cold it was out there.

Well, there was this kid, who decided he would take the evening as an opportunity to go stand up paddle boarding.  He had a wetsuit, which seemed insufficient to me, but he dunked in the water before hopping on the board, and his friend on shore said that he worked at Wet Mitten Surf Shop, so I suppose he was aware of what he was getting into.  It’s possible that he annoyed the row of photographers assembled on the ice, depending on their interest in having a SUP silhouette in their pictures.  I figured it made for a cool picture – even though SUP is not my watersport of choice.

Picture taken with a Sony a6000, E-PZ 16-50mm lens @ 16mm, f/5.0, 1/80 sec shutter, ISO 100.  Shot in RAW and converted after the fact.
