Squawk Squawk

Seagulls

We were attached by seagulls while on Mackinac Island.  I’m pretty sure we were not feeding them, but we may have had food out.

I’m not sure how I concocted the camera settings used.  I’m guessing they were from taking pictures of something else the night before and I just grabbed the camera and took the seagull pictures with whatever settings were there.

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island

I was looking for a good past shot from Labor Day weekend – specifically hoping to find one of when we paddled under the Mackinac Bridge during the annual bridge walk.  But, I had no good pictures from those events – at least not taken from the water.  So, instead, you get an awkwardly wide panorama of Mackinac Island taken from Round Island.

Round Island Lighthouse

Round Island Lighthouse

This picture is so-so, but it fits the lighthouse theme… the Round Island Lighthouse opposite Mackinac Island across the channel there.  I’ve successfully watched fireworks from this lighthouse, which I highly recommend.

Tulips

Tulips

One of the tulip beds as we were walking back into town from the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.  Tulips are kind of delicate and don’t tend to last long, but I like their kind of clean simplicity.  I think this is the last one from the Mackinac trip for, at least for a while.

Sugar Loaf

Sugar Loaf

Sugar Loaf rock on Mackinac.  Seems I have a number of pictures that seem interesting from that trip.  I’m betting I’ve posted pictures of this thing somewhere before.  It’s a big chunk o’ rock that juts up in the middle of Mackinac Island.  Of course, it’s a rock, so I don’t have a lot more to say about it – you can look at it, walk around it or try to climb it.
